John Pocock | Painting

My paintings reflect a wide range of real scenes. Mostly represented in acrylics, they include local subjects, seascapes, portraits, buildings and a variety of landscapes. The emphasis is on true images with plenty of light and colour.

I am not a trained artist but have had a love of painting most of my life. Only in the last few years have I had an opportunity to give time to a hobby which has proved to be a great form of relaxation and also gives me a good deal of personal pleasure and satisfaction. I have been able to build my own studio at my home in central Cambridge and most of my spare time is now spent painting. I am a Chartered Surveyor by training and qualification and, although I have just reached retirement age, I am still employed full time in my own Cambridge business.

I have no desire to profit financially from painting - the satisfaction and pleasure it gives me are enough. However, I have, in recent years, been able to sell many paintings and complete numerous commissions, which has given me the added pleasure of being able to give all the proceeds of sale to charitable causes of my choice. I very much hope to be able to continue to do this.

Anyone is welcome to visit me at my home, by prior arrangement, and I usually have in excess of 40 paintings for sale at prices ranging from about £50 to around £300. I am always happy to accept commissions, and as a rough guide, a single portrait will cost around £250/£300.
